Ready For Easter

The countdown to the Easter Long Weekend is on, and for me there is no better time to entertain at home with family and friends. To celebrate the occasion, I have styled my table to be a bright, white, whimsical, modern table.

This year I have styled a fun and playful place setting, using styling elements to bring in feeling of Spring gardens and fresh vegetables, with classic Easter icons. Although we are in Autumn, because it is Spring in the Northern Hemisphere I always associated Easter with Spring (a little bit like the equivalent of a white Christmas theme). I was originally inspired by framed prints of Peter Rabbit from my childhood, so I have tied in a pale blue and white linen napkin to draw the blues from Peter Rabbit's pale blue cardigan. From there I have layered a jute twine carrot which has a nice rustic feeling to it, but also draws on the vegetable patch from the Peter Rabbit story and the Seed + Stow Dried Orange Slice. I have finished it with a few small chocolate speckled eggs. The overall effect is whimsical, layered and a little bit playful, perfect for a family Easter, especially if you are entertaining with kids.

No gathering is complete without a signature cocktail for the occasion. This year I have opted for a light and refreshing cocktail, that speaks to my themes of Spring gardens and backyard vegetable patches. The Collins is traditionally a highball cocktail that combines gin, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and a splash of soda water over ice. I would sum it up as being a cocktail that has a refreshing citrus flavour, with a touch of sweetness and fizzy charm. It is the perfect drink for sunny celebrations and relaxed gatherings. For my Easter cocktail I have added a twist, an Elderflower twist to be exact, one which ties in my Springtime garden vibe. This also makes a delicious mocktail, for anyone who isn't drinking alcohol, simply remove the gin and enjoy an Elderflower soda.
